Challenge: In 1996, shortly after we first opened our doors at Staffing Solutions, we received a call from the Vice President and Regional Director of one of our competitors, an international staffing company. He wanted to know if we would assist his wife, who was a legal secretary, in finding full-time employment. They had just relocated to Portland from Riverside, California, and did not have a network established in the legal community. He knew of our reputation in staffing legal secretaries, and his wife had worked for many years in Detroit for a law firm.

Solution: We welcomed the opportunity, and met his wife, Judy. When she registered with us, we processed her on our skill evaluations and realized she was top-of-the-line managing partner calibre. As good fortune was smiling on us, we received a call from the legal administrator at Sussman, Shank, Wapnick, Caplan, & Stiles, needing a top-level secretary to the managing partner. We knew immediately we had a match. Off Judy went to interview with Barry Caplan, he liked her background, liked her professionalism, liked her abilities and was decisive about bringing her on-board. Judy worked at the firm until her husband retired and was relocated back to Detroit. So, once again through our network and reputation, we had a successful placement for candidate and firm.
