Challenge: Once the merger with ScottishPower was completed, PacifiCorp had a critical mission in the Real Estate Department. We needed to pull all our records from our six-state transmission and distribution areas, in which we had purchased right-of-way easements, document all our land-holdings, rights-of-way, and any other acquisitions of real property. We knew this would require expertise in title work, as well as real estate transactions. All of the documents had to be examined, specific criteria extracted, and then converted into a new computerized system. The skills required expertise in property plat descriptions, understanding title issues, eminent domain, and other technical legal issues. We were instructed to build a cohesive team to work on this long-term project.
