  Zeta and Carol
    From top down:
  Zeta Rennie and Carol Sommers

Carol began working in the temporary help industry in 1978 as a branch manager for a large, national company. At the time, there were only seven temp-help companies in Portland. Presently, there are over 120 in the Portland metropolitan area. As the business landscape changed, so did Carol. In 1981, she opened her own company, AAAA Temporary Services. At the height of its success in 1989, she sold the company to one of the "nationals." In 1992, she was recruited to start up the legal staffing division for a regional Pacific Northwest firm. Unable to stifle her entrepreneurial spirit and with Zeta Rennie in 1996, she opened Staffing Solutions, LLC, which focused on legal and business service office/administrative temporary and full-time placement. In 1998, Carol oversaw the company's growth into attorney and information technology recruitment and placement. She served twice as president of the Oregon Association of Temporary Services and remains active in the organization. Temporary and full-time; locally, regionally, and nationally; and in a variety of business fields – Carol has done it all when it comes to the staffing industry.

She is arguably, the grand dame of Portland staffing. When Carol is not serving as our de facto CEO, she can be found in New Orleans where she resides part-time in the French Quarter. There, Carol is civically active in Courtyard Tours, the Historical Preservation Society, Jazzfest, and Quarter Fest. Not all fun and frivolity, her social and professional network in New Orleans includes the French Quarter Business Women's Network, temp-help colleagues, and prominent lawyers. Carol likes her martinis dry and her jazz, traditional.
