Our Team: Michael S. Sommers, Esq., Corporate Counsel

Michael is corporate counsel to Staffing Solutions. He is a native Oregonian who graduated with his BA in economics from Willamette University and his JD from the University of Oregon. While a law student, he earned the honor of clerking for the Oregon Supreme Court. He is licensed to practice law in Oregon and has been in private practice as a sole practitioner and as an associate or shareholder in small firms since 1973. He specializes in advising small businesses on all manner of business and employment law, including entity selection; purchases and sales; contracts; business transfer, succession, and related estate planning matters; employee manual and employer policy drafting; and employer client counseling. He has litigation and appellate experience and is a member of local and national bar associations.

Michael has served as legal counsel to the Oregon Staffing Association and several cultural and civic-minded nonprofit organizations. The Gresham Elks Club honored him with its "Elk of the Year" award for 2003-2004. He is a past officer of the Elks and their present Scholarship Committee Chairman, overseeing the awarding of scholarships to local college-bound students. His hobbies include woodworking, reading and spouse-compelled gardening. His woodworking bench is fastidiously organized.
