This is anticipated to be a 2+ month temporary assignment.
Description/Responsibilities:
Participates as a core member of Activewear and Design Cluster team within the Urban Development Department (UDD) Business & Industry team. Current needs Include managing activewear industry jobs project; synthesizing minutes from meetings; managing a timeline and coordinating project partners at state, local level with industry. A deliverable of the activewear jobs project is a white paper that is due to be published In draft form in May for industry input; there will be a focus on collecting and responding to Input and working with consultant in drafting/revising paper as appropriate. There are also a number of Industry discussions scheduled over the next few weeks and this position will assist with notetaking and logistics for those sessions. Another key Initiative is the Portland Center for Design & Innovation, a non-profit group to facilitate the launch of a new website and working with contractors on website design and development, outreach, meeting preparation, etc.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in planning, economics, business, finance or related field. With Bachelor's degree, minimum of 4 years experience in clusters, business management, planning, marketing or related field. And with Master's degree, minimum of two years overall experience in clusters, business management, planning, marketing or related field.
Must possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Capable of Interacting effectively with staff, industry leaders, elected officials, and the community and of building consensus among all stakeholders. Public speaking experience and skills are required.
Must have knowledge of land use planning, financial (Pro forma) analysis, real estate negotiation, economic development related analysis, consultant hiring and management, and team leadership skills.
Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software Is essential.
Ability to organize, analyze, simplify and report complex data and Information.
