Position: LAN/WAN Cisco Network Support Engineer
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 6 months, Temp/Contract W-2
Description:
Manage the planning, coordination, configuration, installation and management of networks and related client services within the enterprise to meet business requirements. Viewed as an expert in network analysis, security, design or engineering.
• Designs, architects and implements complex to very complex network architectures, including LAN, WAN, remote Access and network security.
• Key responsibility for level 3 & 4 support for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems related to networks and network security.
• Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge, project management and leadership skills intended to continually improve the telecommunications and network security infrastructure.
• Make well-thought-out decisions on complex networking and network security issues.
• Coordinates and consults with other IT staff to determine requirements.
• Makes decisions that are critical in the areas of performance, analysis, problem solving, standards, and infrastructure planning, with the potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions.
• Ensures an effective, efficient, stable and secure performance network environment for the enterprise infrastructure.
• Leads and communicates common goals and direction for the team.
• Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.
Requirements:
• Five or more years experience in Telecomm Planning/Network Engineering.
• Proven track record of leading projects.
• Experience with multiplatform environments. Cisco routers/switches/firewalls, load balancers, routing protocols-OSPF-BGP-EGIRP
Preference will be given to those who meet the above qualifications and have the following
• Certified Network Engineer, e.g. CCDP or CCIE
• Cisco experience
• Bachelor's in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
